Chemnitzer FC (until 1990: FC Karl-Marx-Stadt) was founded in 1966. The city Chemnitz is located in the west of Saxony, in the east of Germany. The club colors are skyblue and white. Their homegames are played in "Stadion an der Gellertstraße", the stadium can filled with 15.200 fans. The biggest success in club history was the GDR-Championship in 1967 and the reaching of the round of sixteen in UEFA-Cup in 1990. They loosed against Juventus Turin in a close game. Between 1991-1996 and 1999-2001 Chemnitz played in the 2nd Bundesliga for their last time. Famous youth player form CFC were Michael Ballack, Ralf Fährmann and Peer Kluge.
